Fifty years ago today, Silent Movie was released.
The premise is a joke about the movies themselves. Three aspiring filmmakers, Mel Funn, Marty Eggs and Dom Bell, take an idea to a financially troubled studio. Their pitch is a silent movie, and to make it marketable they set out to recruit a run of big name stars, while the studio's creditors try to thwart them at every turn.
