What's new the week of August 2, from Evil Dead Burn to Ice Cream Man

This week runs horror heavy, opening with a streaming sequel on Tuesday and closing with a pair of cinema slashers on Friday, plus a romantic detour in between.

Evil Dead Burn continues the franchise Sam Raimi built, with Sébastien Vaniček directing and writing alongside Florent Bernard. Souheila Yacoub stars as a woman who moves in with her late husband's family only to watch them turn into Deadites one by one, a premise that leans into grief as much as gore.

Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man opens in cinemas Friday, sending a killer working under cover of a summer ice cream truck through an otherwise idyllic town.

The rest of Friday's slate covers a lot of ground: One Night Only follows two strangers thrown together on the one night singles are allowed out, DC brings an Indian action drama built on shifting loyalties, and Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma revives a fictional slasher franchise through the eyes of the young director hired to resurrect it. Our Sticky Love arrives as a new series for anyone who wants a longer watch, following an amnesiac prosecutor pulled into her boxing coach's orbit.

If horror is the mood, start with Evil Dead Burn at home before catching Ice Cream Man on the big screen. For something lighter, One Night Only and Our Sticky Love make the softer picks.
