"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" opens in theaters on July 31, 2026. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers and Justin Kuritzkes, it is the fourth MCU Spider-Man film and the first not directed by Jon Watts.
Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker, joined by Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando and Mark Ruffalo.
The story picks up after "No Way Home," where Peter erased the world's memory of his secret identity, at real personal cost to MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Batalon). Cretton has described Peter as isolated and stripped of the safety net he had in the earlier trilogy, working full-time as Spider-Man without Stark Industries backing or superhero allies. Jon Bernthal's Punisher, marketed as a central figure this time, functions as a warning of what Peter could become if his no-killing code slips.
Cretton has been cagey about the villain, calling the main antagonist a mysterious figure who can jump into another person's mind, while marketing has separately shown Spider-Man fighting the Hand, Scorpion and Tombstone, so the true shape of the threat is being withheld deliberately.
Confirmed: the July 31 release date, the core cast, Cretton as director, and the Peter-isolated-from-his-support-system premise following directly from "No Way Home." Still unclear: the villain's full identity beyond Cretton's mind-jumping description, and how large a role the Hand, Scorpion and Tombstone actually play.
