"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" opens in theaters on July 31, 2026, exactly one week from today.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers and Justin Kuritzkes, it is the fourth MCU Spider-Man film and the first not directed by Jon Watts. Cretton has been cagey about the villain, calling the main antagonist a mysterious figure who can jump into another person's mind, while marketing has separately shown Spider-Man fighting the Hand, Scorpion and Tombstone, so the true shape of the threat is being withheld deliberately. The pairing of a grounded, exhausted Peter with a hard-edged antihero is a real tonal swing for this franchise: Cretton has said he wanted the emotional stakes of a twenty-something dealing with real hardship without losing the character's humor. That mix, plus Mark Ruffalo's Hulk appearing in the final trailer's footage, gives the film a wider MCU footprint than either previous Holland-led sequel attempted.
